This Button Assembly is used within a sprinkler head in a fire suppression system. It is comprised of a copper Button into which a brass Insert is press fit. This assembly is designed such that a glass bulb applies pressure to the assembly which acts as a plug preventing water from flowing until the ambient temperature around the sprinkler reaches a designated level. During a fire, liquid inside the glass bulb absorbs heat and expands breaking the glass bulb and releasing water to extinguish the fire.
Produced on a 325 US Baird transfer press at 150 strokes per minute, the Insert is fed into the tool’s progression via a feeder bowl and inline track. It is press fit into the Button as it is being formed A completed assembly is produced with each revoution of the 325 US Baird transfer press it is run on.
6,000,000 units are produced and degreased at Gem annually.
