At GEM Manufacturing, we take a collaborative approach to process and tool design, working closely with our customers to optimize both cost and performance. Involving GEM early in your product development process can lead to significant cost savings, improved product performance, and enhanced manufacturability. Components originally produced through alternative methods can often be redesigned for more efficient deep-drawn manufacturing.

While the benefits of redesign vary, the greatest savings are typically realized  when multi-piece assemblies can be consolidated into a single deep-drawn component.

For example, in the comparison shown, a machined tire valve cap (horizontal) was redesigned and manufactured as a deep-drawn part by GEM (vertical). This redesigned cap uses 65.7% less raw material and is 56.5% lighter, resulting in both cost savings and reduced centrifugal forces, making tire balancing easier.
