Gem's state of the art engineering
department is second to none in the industry. A team of design
engineers, representing years of experience in all phases of fabrication
of drawn metal components, oversees the progress of your job through every stage of
production. Six CAD/CAM systems, featuring CADKEY software, allows Gem
to design all of its own tooling for maximum production economy and
maximum product performance.
Manufacturing includes over 100 transfer and
progressive power presses fitted with electronic probing and safety
interlock systems to protect operators and tooling.
Toolroom facilities are equipped with the latest CNC
and conventional machine tools, including milling, turning and welding
machines, surface grinders and drill presses.
Secondary
operations include spot welding, production tapping, slotting, tube
forming, sub-assembly and virtually any procedure required.
Finishing
operations include tumbling, deburring, burnishing,
electro-polishing, phosphating,
passivating, annealing, and
chemical blackening.
Quality
control is a Gem preoccupation. Currently, Gem is deeply involved in
implementing the rigid standards of the QS-9000 Quality System
Requirements.
Fully
computerized administrative and manufacturing systems permit
tracking of individual orders through each step of the production
process.
